What do you want to see John Deere improve?

Improve EH controls & hydraulic system on 320D.

The response from the EH travel control is wrong. Travel dampening is high and acceleration is low. this makes it hard to stop at the edge of a trench, for example. Steering is very agressive and this makes the machine difficult to control on rough terrain.
Both, machine agression (rate at which machine accelerates) and control dampening needs to be tuned and adjustable by the operator. Also, the controls should be mounted to the seat armrests to minimize inadvertent movement.

One other complaint that I have is that you use a gear pump for the hydraulic system. The effect is that 1) response varies with load, 2) there is no linear correlation between lever position and hydraulic speed, 3) running an implement off the auxillary hydraulics often impairs boom and bucket control, and 4) the system wastes fuel and robs power by pushing oil through the relief valve. This is significant when running attachments such as a snowblower.

Great Feedback, Thad! We’re very committed to improving our Electro-hydraulic (EH) Joystick controls in all the areas you described. Today, we do offer an EH Performance Package that has a setting to allow the operator to adjust variable boom and bucket speeds to improve controllability. Also included in this package is a creeper mode setting to adjust wheel speed and travel aggressiveness levels independently of engine RPM.

Thanks to customer input like yours we’re looking at new dampened joystick technology to help eliminate the situation you described, where the machine may feel a bit too aggressive or difficult to control at high RPM. We’re also working on other specific features to give you even more control over response times and certain operations. Stay tuned!

To build on what Thad said. We just got a new 320d at the farm..Deere needs to fix the annoying delay in hand control response! In both the 2 speed mode and single speed mode. The controls are way too jumpy and unpredictable even when in precision mode...This issue needs to be fixed by Deere under warranty...

I agree with the EH controls. My takeuchi tl130 will manuever, turn, operate in high/low gear, and has good hydraulic power just off an idle. The deere I demoed had be at almost full throttle to get any response and then it was jerky and very touchy to operate.
